Baltimore City College High School is seeking a volunteer Mock Trial Attorney Advisor to support its students as they prepare for national and local competitions, according to an announcement on Apr. 28.
The role is seen as an opportunity for attorneys to mentor high school students and contribute to the legal community in Maryland. The position involves coaching the school’s mock trial team, helping students understand case materials, guiding them through trial procedures, and supporting their preparation for competitions.
The commitment includes assisting during the spring season through May 18 for national competition preparation, as well as from September through mid-March during the MYLaw High School Mock Trial Competition. Practices are held in person at the University of Baltimore School of Law on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM, with some sessions conducted virtually via Zoom.
Qualified applicants must be attorneys in good standing; retired attorneys and judges are encouraged to apply. Litigation or trial experience is preferred but not required. The school highlights that this volunteer role helps develop critical thinking and public speaking skills among students.
