A section of Bridge Drive in Joppatowne will be closed for about two weeks beginning May 4, according to an April 28 announcement from Harford County officials. The closure affects the stretch between Towne Center Drive and Shore Drive due to routine maintenance on the bridge deck over the Gunpowder River.

The temporary closure means that emergency vehicles and school buses will not be able to cross the bridge at any time during this period. Drivers are advised to follow posted detour signs or make other arrangements, while pedestrians should also use designated detours.

Questions regarding the closure can be directed to 410-638-3509, extension 1392. For more information about current and planned county road closures, residents can consult a map available on the county website at https://www.harfordcountymd.gov/1164/Road-Closures.

This maintenance is part of ongoing efforts by Harford County authorities to ensure infrastructure safety and reliability. Similar projects have recently taken place elsewhere in the county, including daytime closures on Old Robinhood Road in Havre de Grace.

Looking ahead, local officials continue their work on transportation improvements as part of broader community initiatives.
