Washington College hosted Brothers Osborne on April 11 for a private concert on the Campus Green, concluding a day of music and activities as part of its annual Admitted Students Day. The free event attracted students, faculty, staff, and over 140 visiting families.
The celebration aimed to introduce admitted students to campus life and community spirit. Attendees enjoyed live performances, food trucks, and festival activities throughout the day.
The festivities began Friday evening with an event at the Golden Goose featuring alumnus Chris Ellinghaus and continued Saturday with the first Wild West Music Fest. Performances included Kentavius Jones and a student rock band, alongside attractions like a mechanical bull and petting zoo.
Nearly 400 guests participated in campus tours, academic meetings with faculty, and a special Fellows & Scholars Reception. A new initiative allowed enrolled students to select their dorm rooms at Caroline House.
“It was a joy to see so many happy families, excited prospective students, and engaged alumni across campus throughout the day,” said Interim President Bryan Matthews ’75 M’86 P’12 in an email after the event. “The energy carried from event to event—from the exuberant check-ins and tours of the morning to the lively Wild West Music Fest to a great concert in the evening.”
Johnnie Johnson, vice president for enrollment management, said: “The campus truly came together to make Saturday successful. Our buildings and grounds and maintenance folks made the campus look beautiful inside and out. The faculty stepped up to show students and their families how successful they could be academically. The housing and student life team allowed students to choose their rooms, something new to entice families to commit. Our student workers showed the true essence of being thriving young adults at Washington College.”
After Brothers Osborne’s performance concluded on stage, guests gathered at Golden Goose for additional live music into the night.
