The Maryland Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the City of Brunswick and the Maryland Historical Trust, is set to host a historical marker unveiling ceremony. The event aims to honor the history and heritage of the Brunswick community by highlighting the importance of the C&O Canal and B&O Railroad in the city’s development.

Scheduled for 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at W. Potomac Street – Pocket Park in Brunswick, MD, the ceremony will feature participation from MDOT officials, state and local leaders, historians, and community members. Attendees will hear remarks from these officials before participating in the unveiling and enjoying photo opportunities.

The historical marker being unveiled acknowledges Brunswick’s history and its economic growth linked to both the C&O Canal and B&O Railroad. The event serves as a recognition of community partners who have contributed to preserving this heritage.
