A California, Maryland man was charged with multiple offenses after an alleged assault involving a firearm in St. Inigoes, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 16.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a residence at approximately 1:14 a.m. on April 14 following reports of an assault. The victim told deputies that during an argument, a male subject allegedly pointed a firearm at him. Following an investigation, Jordan Charles Danford, age 26, was identified as the suspect and taken into custody.
Deputies recovered an unserialized polymer 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a fully loaded magazine containing 25 rounds of ammunition from Danford. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and charged with six offenses: first-degree assault; use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence; unlawful possession of an unserialized firearm; possession of a regulated firearm while prohibited due to an out-of-state protective order; possession of ammunition while prohibited; and use of a high-capacity magazine in the commission of a felony. After appearing before District Court, Danford was released on personal recognizance pending trial.
