Students at Westlake High School and La Plata High School were found in possession of vaping devices containing THC on March 4, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. The day before, a 13-year-old student at Davis Middle School was discovered with loose cannabis, which authorities say was obtained from a 12-year-old student.

All students involved have been charged with possession of cannabis through juvenile civil citations as required by Maryland law. They also face disciplinary actions under the Charles County Public Schools student code of conduct.

Parents are encouraged to speak with their children about the risks associated with consuming products that may contain harmful substances. Authorities warn that such substances can have negative health effects.
