U.S. Representative Glenn Ivey, who serves Maryland’s 4th district, recently posted a series of updates on his social media account regarding federal funding for artificial intelligence initiatives and the ongoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown.
On March 23, 2026, Ivey announced his participation in an academic event at the University of Maryland: “I am looking forward to giving the keynote address tomorrow at the University of Maryland’s Competitiveness Conversations conference on AI and Quantum! Kicking the day off with an exciting announcement at UMD… Stay tuned !”
The following day, he addressed the impact of the DHS shutdown: “39 days into the Trump-Republican DHS shutdown, and families are paying the price. Airport lines are getting worse, TSA officers are missing paychecks, and all to protect extreme demands that keep ICE unchecked and make it harder to vote. Enough is enough. Pay TSA. Rein in ICE.” This post was made on March 24, 2026.
Later that same day, Ivey highlighted new federal support for local technology development: “Proud to deliver over $1M in federal funding to the University of Maryland’s Center for Artificial Intelligence to expand access to AI tools and resources for small businesses across Maryland. @umterps”
Glenn Ivey has represented Maryland’s 4th congressional district since replacing Anthony Brown in 2023. He previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives and holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961, Ivey resides in Cheverly.
