The City of Greenbelt announced on March 31 that it is inviting residents to provide feedback on its Draft Cemetery Preservation Master Plan through April 24. The plan addresses the preservation, maintenance, and use of the city’s three historic cemeteries: Hamilton, Turner, and Walker.

The city said these cemeteries represent Greenbelt’s diverse heritage and history. They include connections to Native American history, early European settlers, enslaved individuals, small farmers, and Revolutionary War heroes.

Residents are encouraged to review the draft plan online at www.greenbeltmd.gov/cemeteryPMP. Comments can be submitted directly to Terri Hruby, Director of Planning and Community Development, via email at thruby@greenbeltmd.gov.

The city stated that community input will help guide decisions about how best to preserve these important sites for future generations. The comment period remains open until April 24.

Officials indicated that further updates or revisions may be made based on public responses received during this period.
