On April 10, 2025, Rep. Glenn Ivey highlighted the importance of the Office of Minority Health in addressing health disparities affecting minority groups. He underscored diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and cancer, stressing the necessity for continued research and development of treatments beneficial to the community. He questioned efforts to dismantle such a vital institution, tweeting “The OMH is essential to address the health disparities that impact minority groups from heart disease, diabetes, stroke, and cancer. We must continue to research and develop treatments that help the community.”
The following day, April 11, 2025, Ivey expressed gratitude towards his constituents in District 3 for their engagement, after recent community interactions. He thanked Eric Olson for his role, tweeting “Thanks @CMEricOlson for having me! To the residents of District 3 who came out last night- thank you for your continued engagement during these important times.”
Continuing on April 11, 2025, Ivey addressed immigration, calling for compliance by the Trump Administration with a Supreme Court ruling. The ruling pertained to facilitating the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to be reunited with his family in Maryland. Ivey’s call was voiced through Twitter, stating, “The Trump Administration must comply with the Supreme Court’s ruling and facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the U.S. immediately to be reunited with his family in Maryland.”
Ivey has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2023 after succeeding Anthony Brown. Prior to this, he held positions in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in 1961 in Chelsea, Massachusetts, Ivey currently resides in Cheverly. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.
