Rep. Glenn Ivey, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 4th district since 2023, has been vocal on social media about pressing issues facing his community and state. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961, Ivey graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School before embarking on a career in public service that included time in the Maryland House of Representatives.

On May 12, 2025, Rep. Ivey expressed his commitment to reducing gun violence by calling for collective action: “As a lawmaker, I can’t make our community safer alone- it takes a village. Community leaders, coaches, parents, and everyone who loves our youth must step up and partner together to reduce gun violence.” He extended gratitude to his sorority sisters for their partnership in this effort.

The following day, May 13, he addressed healthcare concerns regarding proposed budget cuts: “This week, @HouseGOP are finalizing their plans to cut $880 billion from Medicaid, stripping healthcare coverage from hundreds of thousands of Marylanders.” He emphasized that health care is a right and pledged to oppose these cuts by voting against them.

Later on the same day, Rep. Ivey shared another tweet without additional commentary or context: “https://t.co/i5FNSDZAx2”

With his background as an attorney and legislator committed to social issues like gun control and healthcare access, Rep. Glenn Ivey continues to advocate for policies that impact residents of Maryland’s 4th district.
