The Loyola University Maryland men’s and women’s tennis teams finished their 2025-26 regular seasons on April 14 with losses to George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

These matches marked the end of the regular season for both Loyola squads, highlighting competitive play as they prepare for postseason opportunities.

In the men’s match, Loyola lost 4-0 to George Mason in a contest that was shortened due to unfinished matches. The Patriots secured the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Niza Simunyola and Edgar Vilain defeated Nick Lawliss and Ryan Gill, while Zavan Fahim and Nicholas Novitski won against Dylan Koziol and Blake Edwards. The No. 2 doubles match was left unfinished with a tied score. In singles action, Simunyola, Vilain, and Fahim each claimed victories for George Mason before three singles matches were halted without completion.

On the women’s side, Loyola fell narrowly by a score of 4-3 after splitting results in doubles and singles play. Loyola earned the doubles point with wins from Christine Richiez/Emma Roeck at No. 1 and Liza Tankimovich/Mia Matriccino at No. 3; one doubles match remained unfinished. In singles competition, George Mason won four out of six contests to secure victory overall despite strong performances from Elena Hartley at No. 2 singles—who rallied past Maya Bayat—and Matriccino at No. 3 who defeated Mary Young.

The outcomes reflect closely contested battles as both programs look ahead to their next competitions following these final regular-season tests.
