Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse team defeated Boston University 13-7 in the Patriot League Championships First Round, according to an April 26 announcement. The game took place on Sunday afternoon, and Loyola will move on to face Army West Point in the semifinals at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
The victory was marked by a strong start to the second half, where Loyola scored six consecutive goals and kept Boston University scoreless for more than 23 minutes after halftime. This performance secured their advancement in the tournament.
Seven different players contributed goals for Loyola during Sunday’s match. Morgan Quade led with six points from two goals and four assists. Elisa Faklaris and Delaney Jackson each recorded three goals. After taking a brief lead early in the second quarter, Loyola fell behind as Boston University responded with three straight goals, but regained momentum after halftime.
Quade played a significant role in turning the game around by scoring an unassisted goal that tied the match at 6-6 early in the third quarter. She then assisted on key plays that helped establish a lasting lead for Loyola. Additional contributions came from Jackson and Faklaris, who both scored important fourth-quarter goals.
Mae Murphy led draw controls with ten, while Reilly Mahon had three caused turnovers for Loyola’s defense. Goalkeeper Makenzie Butler made seven saves during the game.
Looking ahead, Loyola will play Army West Point at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 30.
