Loyola will host Boston for the Patriot League Quarterfinals on April 25, as the Greyhounds begin their postseason campaign. The two teams met earlier this season at Ridley, where Loyola secured a 13-8 victory after overcoming an early deficit with a decisive 9-2 run.
This matchup holds significance as Loyola aims to continue its recent success in the conference and national tournaments. The Greyhounds have reached the NCAA Tournament for seven consecutive seasons, excluding 2020, and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in both 2022 and 2023. Last season, however, they were eliminated by Stony Brook in the First Round.
Sophomores Morgan Quade and Lauren Perfetto have played key roles this year; Quade leads with 34 assists and 59 points while Perfetto follows closely with strong numbers in assists and points. Mae Murphy has set new records for draw controls as a freshman, breaking Division I, Loyola, and Patriot League single-season marks with her performance through 17 games.
Head coach Jen Adams is now in her eighteenth season leading Loyola. Under her guidance since the start of the 2022 season, the team has compiled a record of 79-21 that includes five NCAA Tournament wins. Adams celebrated her milestone of reaching her 250th career win during a game against Colgate.
Three Greyhounds—Elisa Faklaris, Cydney Lisk, and Mim Suares-Jury—were named to this year’s Patriot League All-Preseason Team. Murphy has been recognized as Rookie of the Week five times and also earned Defensive Player of the Week honors once. Faklaris was named Midfielder of the Week after scoring seven points during one week early in the season.
Boston enters as sixth seed following a loss to Holy Cross but is led by Tessa Geddes (42 goals) along with contributions from Elle Stevenson (36 goals) and Avery Cutair (24 assists). Goalkeeper Natalie Aiosa has started every game for Boston this year.
The Greyhounds’ senior class will be honored after Saturday’s game against Colgate; collectively they have achieved a record of 61-19 over four years including multiple league championships. As Loyola prepares for its next postseason test against Boston, players like Murphy look to build on an established tradition of excellence at draw control.
