Registration is now open for the 2026 Maryland Farmers Market Conference, according to an announcement from the Maryland Department of Agriculture. The annual event will take place on March 10, 2026, at the department’s headquarters in Annapolis from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The conference is designed to bring together local farmers’ markets and farmers throughout the state. Participants will discuss topics aimed at supporting and promoting the success of farmers’ markets across Maryland. Secretary Kevin Atticks of the Maryland Department of Agriculture will serve as keynote speaker and will be available for a meet and greet with attendees.
“Our farmers’ markets are the heart of Maryland’s communities, providing a direct link between farmers and the families they feed,” said Maryland Department of Agriculture Secretary Kevin Atticks. “I’m looking forward to serving as this year’s keynote speaker and sitting down with our market managers and producers. This conference is about giving our agricultural partners the practical tools they need to ensure 2026 is their most successful season yet.”
The conference agenda includes presentations from leaders involved in food access programs, discussions on current issues such as conflict resolution, value-added food regulations, and immigration trends impacting farmers markets. There will also be a marketing panel focusing on strategies for promoting small farms or organizations, along with breakout sessions on marketing, conflict resolution, and nutrient management plans.
Training and reauthorization for the Farmers Market Nutrition Program will be offered for both new and returning participants. The training provides an opportunity to complete program requirements and ask questions before the upcoming season.
Organizations participating in the event will provide resources and technical assistance during breaks and lunch. Information about Maryland Market Money—a program managed by MDA—will also be available onsite. Additionally, farmers can have their scales certified by staff from MDA’s Weights and Measures office during the conference.
Conference tickets cost $35 each, with space limited to 90 guests who reserve their ticket and submit payment. Locally sourced breakfast pastries and lunch are included with registration.
