The Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) has been recognized with several awards from the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) and a 2025 dotCOMM Award. The accolades highlight the MVA’s commitment to innovation, customer service, and public safety.

The MVA’s Mobile ID Check by MD app received the dotCOMM Award for its role in advancing mobile credentialing and digital service delivery. This award is part of a program that celebrates excellence in web creativity and digital communications.

“These awards reflect the dedication and creativity of our MVA team,” said MVA Administrator Chrissy Nizer. “From improving customer experience to enhancing safety and fraud prevention, our employees continue to raise the standard for public service in the motor vehicle industry.”

The AAMVA awards were presented at the 2025 Region 1 conference, attended by transportation leaders from across North America. Among the honors received were:

– Communications Informative Writing: Recognized for “The Groundhog” marketing campaign aimed at encouraging early credential renewals.
– Special Events: Acknowledged for excellence in public outreach through the Maryland Work Zone Safety Press Conference.
– Fraud Prevention and Detection Investigations Individual Award: John Geisler was honored for his work on complex fraud investigations, including resolving numerous E-check and address fraud cases.
– Service Awards: The MVA Self-Service Check-in Kiosks were noted for streamlining customer experiences, while Maryland’s NAPHSIS Clean-Up Project was commended for improving data accuracy.

AAMVA has been recognizing excellence in motor vehicle administration since its founding in 1933. It supports member agencies across North America by promoting innovations in safety, security, and service within the transportation sector.
