The University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks lost a closely contested men’s volleyball match against Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights on April 10, with a final score of 0-3 in Hackensack, New Jersey.
The match was part of the Hawks’ last regular season road trip. The set scores were 24-26, 22-25, and 20-25. Both teams traded points throughout the first set, with the Hawks taking a brief lead at 18-14 before FDU came back to win the set. In the second set, Maryland Eastern Shore again started strong but could not hold off a late push from FDU, who secured the win after several point exchanges.
During the third set, both teams remained close until midway through when FDU took a seven-point lead. The Hawks managed to reduce this gap with a significant run but ultimately fell short as FDU closed out both the set and match.
Individual performances included one Hawk leading with 11 kills along with five digs and three blocks. Two other players tied for second on the team with seven kills each. The team’s setter led in assists with thirty and also contributed two kills and an ace. Defensively, UMES liberos combined for seven digs during the contest.
Looking ahead, Maryland Eastern Shore will stay in Hackensack for another matchup against FDU before returning home to finish their regular season against Manhattan on April 17 and April 18.
