The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women’s golf team finished fourth at the Northeast Conference Championships, according to an April 20 announcement. This marks the team’s highest placement since joining the conference.
The achievement is significant for the program, as it sets a new record for their best finish in the NEC. The Hawks recorded scores of 324, 314, and 333 over three rounds, totaling 971 for the tournament.
A freshman led Maryland Eastern Shore with rounds of 81, 74, and 84 to secure a total score of 239 and a thirteenth-place individual finish. A sophomore followed in twentieth place with scores of 79, 82, and 81 for a total of 242. Another team member posted rounds of 87 and consecutive scores of 80 to tie for thirty-first at a total score of 247. Two other players tied for thirty-sixth place with totals of 252 each; one achieved her best round in the second round with a score of seventy-eight while another did so in the first round.

With this top-four result over the weekend, Maryland Eastern Shore remains eligible to receive an invitation to compete at the PGA Collegiate Works Championships in Florida. The final field is expected to be announced later this week.
