The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association announced on April 26 that the application process for the 2026 Minds in Motion Scholar-Athlete Scholarship is now open. The program, in its nineteenth year, honors high school seniors who have shown achievement both academically and athletically.

The scholarship aims to support students who balance academic success with participation in interscholastic sports. To be eligible, applicants must have at least a 3.25 unweighted overall grade point average and must have participated in athletic activities sponsored by the association during their high school years.

Each of the nine districts represented by the association will select two recipients—one male and one female—who will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to use toward post-secondary education. Applications are being accepted through an online form until noon on Friday, April 3.

After submission, applications are sorted according to district and sent to each district’s Scholar-Athlete Committee representative. Each district then forms a selection committee responsible for reviewing applications and choosing recipients.

This annual scholarship continues to encourage student-athletes across Maryland to strive for excellence both on the field and in their studies.
