The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation announced on April 14 the launch of a new dedicated web page for the Countywide Strategic Plan. The web page will allow Montgomery County businesses, residents, and elected officials to track the progress of the plan, review key milestones, and submit questions or comments. A public input survey is available until May 15.
The new online resource aims to keep community members informed and involved in shaping economic development efforts in Montgomery County. By providing regular updates and opportunities for feedback, the corporation seeks to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the planning process.
“This marks an important step in the development of this plan alongside our partners SRI; ensuring that our economic development strategy remains transparent, accountable, and responsive to community needs is paramount for this project,” said Jared Smith, President and CEO of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation. “We encourage all local residents and businesses to explore the page, check on the plan’s progress, and share their perspectives. Our goal is to provide a meaningful opportunity for them to help shape the future of economic development in Montgomery County.”
In January, SRI International was named as a partner in developing the strategic plan. The initiative will set out an actionable framework guiding economic growth across Montgomery County over four years. Key areas include strengthening industries, expanding workforce opportunities, fostering innovation, and promoting broad-based prosperity.
A draft version of the plan is scheduled for delivery to County Executive Marc Elrich by July 31. After review by county officials including presentation before the Montgomery County Council by January next year, adoption is expected during summer 2027.
