Loyola University Maryland’s Morgan Quade was named the Women’s Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the Patriot League, according to an April 29 announcement. Ava Kane, also from Loyola, was selected for the Academic All-Patriot League team.
The recognition highlights academic and athletic achievements among student-athletes in the league. These honors are awarded to players who excel both on the field and in their studies.
Quade, a sophomore finance major with a 3.91 cumulative grade-point average, received Academic All-Patriot League honors for the first time this year after earning First-Team All-Patriot League recognition earlier in the week. She is noted as Loyola’s sixth different recipient of this top academic honor for women’s lacrosse. In addition to her academic accomplishments—including three selections to Loyola’s Dean’s list—Quade posted 65 points with 27 goals and 38 assists during the season, helping lead her team to a No. 3 seed in the Patriot League Championship. She is also involved with Dream on 3 Club, which supports children with life-altering conditions who want to play sports.
Ava Kane, a senior attacker majoring in Communication and Media with a GPA of 3.90, earned her first Academic All-Patriot League selection this season as well. Kane contributed significantly on offense by scoring 23 goals and making five assists during this campaign; she is one of seven Greyhounds players who scored at least twenty goals this year.
Looking ahead, Loyola will face No. 2 seeded Army Black Knights on Thursday in the Patriot League Semifinals.
