The Mount Rainier Tree Commission announced on April 10 that it is looking for new members to join its volunteer group. The commission encourages residents who are passionate about trees and public service to consider applying.

The commission plays a role in maintaining and improving the city’s tree canopy. Its responsibilities include advising city officials on tree-related matters, educating staff and residents, advocating for the preservation of existing trees, planting new ones, and caring for those already established.

Members of the commission also participate in reviewing public tree removals and hearing resident appeals as part of the permit process. The group welcomes individuals interested in contributing to these efforts or bringing forward new ideas.

Those seeking more information can visit www.mountrainiermd.org/treecommission or contact the commission by email at treecommission@mountrainiermd.org.

By recruiting additional volunteers, the Mount Rainier Tree Commission aims to strengthen its work supporting a greener community.
