Oakland man arrested for violation of sexual offender registration status

David Dale Collins II, a 42-year-old resident of Oakland, was arrested on May 4 following an investigation by the Garrett County Sheriff’s Office. Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division obtained an arrest warrant for Collins for violations of Maryland’s Sexual Offender Registration Status, according to a statement released by Sheriff Bryson Meyers on May 5.

Deputies located and stopped Collins along Swanton Road near Painter School Road. He was placed under arrest based on the warrant and charged with failure to register as a sexual offender. After his arrest, Collins was transported to the Garrett County Detention Center where he is being held pending a bond hearing.

Sheriff Bryson Meyers said: “On May 4, 2026, Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division obtained an arrest warrant for David Dale Collins II, 42 years old, Oakland, for violations of Maryland’s Sexual Offender Registration Status. Deputies located and stopped Collins along Swanton Road near Painter School Road, and he was placed under arrest on the strength of the arrest warrant.”
