Rep. Glenn Ivey, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 4th district since 2023, marked several significant events in recent social media posts on August 6, 2025.
In his first post of the day, Ivey highlighted his participation in community activities: “I had the pleasure of joining neighbors in Forest Heights, District Heights, and Seat Pleasant for National Night Out — celebrating community, public safety, and the partnerships that keep our neighborhoods strong. My team also showed up across the region, from Fort Washington to https://t.co/PccEYG7d1i” (August 6, 2025).
Later that afternoon, Ivey reflected on a historical anniversary: “80 years ago today, the world witnessed the devastating power of nuclear war in Hiroshima. We remember the lives lost, honor the survivors, and recommit to building a future where peace and diplomacy triumph over destruction.

That evening, he addressed voting rights legislation: “Today marks 60 years since the Voting Rights Act was signed into law.
It was a hard-fought victory for justice — but that fight isn’t over.
Modern-day voter suppression is real. I’m pushing to restore the VRA through the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. #VRA60 https://t.co/gNMoSEkqtO” (August 6, 2025).
Glenn Ivey has represented Maryland’s 4th district in Congress since replacing Anthony Brown in 2023 and previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently residing in Cheverly at age 62, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
