Rep. Glenn Ivey, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 4th district, has been vocal on several pressing issues through his recent social media posts. Ivey, who replaced Anthony Brown in 2023 and previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives, shared his concerns on matters ranging from constitutional rights to the passing of a colleague.

On May 20, 2025, Rep. Glenn Ivey expressed his dismay over what he perceives as an attack on democracy when court orders are ignored and individuals are deported without due process. He highlighted the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who was “wrongfully removed to El Salvador in blatant violation of federal protections.” According to Ivey, this incident represents a “reckless assault on constitutional rights.” The full statement can be found here.

Later that day, Ivey addressed potential constitutional violations concerning former President Donald Trump’s financial dealings. In a tweet posted at 23:20 UTC, he stated: “It doesn’t get much bigger than this. If there’s a constitutional violation of the Emoluments Clause, someone needs to be looking at it now.” He mentioned pressing the SEC Chair about Trump’s $TRUMP meme coin and its profits from foreign investors such as billionaire Justin Sun.

On May 21, 2025, Rep. Glenn Ivey mourned the loss of Congressman Gerry Connolly. In his post at 13:55 UTC, he expressed deep sadness over Connolly’s passing after battling esophageal cancer. Ivey remembered Connolly as “a tireless advocate for federal employees,” noting his significant contributions as “a champion for immigration reform” and “a transformative leader for Northern Virginia.” More details can be accessed here.
