Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of issues on his social media account, including rising energy costs, the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, and opportunities for military academy applicants.

On August 28, 2025, Ivey posted about increasing electricity prices and criticized federal actions affecting local energy initiatives: “Electric bills are up 5.5%—and the Trump administration is blocking clean energy projects here in Maryland that could bring costs down. Families can’t afford higher prices while solutions are sitting on the table. We need offshore wind and real energy leadership now.”

The following day, he reflected on the impact of Hurricane Katrina two decades after it struck: “Twenty years ago, Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast—flooding 80% of New Orleans, taking nearly 1,400 lives, and reshaping the region forever. Later on August 29, Ivey highlighted an opportunity for students interested in military service: “My office is still accepting applications for the Military Service Academy through September 25! Interested applicants should visit my website to apply. The deadline is September 25.”

Glenn Ivey has represented Maryland’s 4th District in Congress since replacing Anthony Brown in 2023. He previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives and holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961, Ivey currently resides in Cheverly.
