Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has used social media to address concerns about federal job losses in Maryland and advocate for minority-owned businesses.
On September 23, 2025, Ivey posted that “Maryland has lost over 15,000 federal jobs this year, the most in the nation. That’s a crisis for our state and our country. In our Fourth District, I’ve hosted a Federal Workers Resource Fair and a Job Fair to connect displaced employees with new opportunities.”
Later that day, he commented on his engagement with local business leaders: “Honored to speak with the Maryland Regional Minority Suppliers Development Council. Minority-owned businesses drive jobs and innovation, yet Trump’s agenda threatens to roll back hard-won progress. We must keep breaking barriers and expanding opportunities for MBEs—now more than https://t.co/KsLgwUnmjo” (September 23, 2025).
On September 24, 2025, Ivey criticized recent employment policy reversals: “First he fired them. Now he’s calling them back. Hundreds laid off by Trump’s DOGE cuts are being called back to work after months of uncertainty resulting in delayed services for taxpayers. No more stunts. No more chaos. Federal workers deserve respect.”
Glenn Ivey has served as the U.S. Representative for Maryland’s 4th District since replacing Anthony Brown in 2023. He previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives and is an alumnus of Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
Ivey was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently resides in Cheverly.
