Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on October 31, 2025, addressing health insurance costs, honoring a local leader, and commenting on a recent court decision related to food assistance.

In his first post of the day, Ivey highlighted concerns over rising healthcare expenses: “Open enrollment starts Nov. 1—and Marylanders face a drastic spike in health insurance costs. We need to extend the ACA tax credits now.” (October 31, 2025)

Later that evening, Ivey paid tribute to Mayor Vivian Dodson: “Mayor Vivian Dodson was a trailblazer — the first woman and African American elected mayor of Capitol Heights, and a true servant of the people. Known as ‘The People’s Mayor,’ she led with strength, grace, and heart. Jolene and I send our deepest condolences to her family,” (October 31, 2025)

In another statement concerning federal food assistance programs, Ivey commented on a legal ruling: “Today’s court decision confirms what we’ve been fighting for all along: no American should be used as a bargaining chip. Millions of families depend on SNAP to eat, and this ruling makes clear that the administration must use the funds available to keep food on the table for” (October 31, 2025)

Glenn Ivey has served in Congress since replacing Anthony Brown in 2023. He previously held office in the Maryland House of Representatives and has longstanding ties to public service in his state. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently residing in Cheverly at age 62, Ivey is an alumnus of Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
