Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several issues on his social media account, including concerns over due process in immigration cases, the start of the new school year for local students and educators, and a tragic shooting at a Minneapolis school.

On August 26, 2025, Rep. Ivey posted about an ongoing legal case: “Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s case is a clear miscarriage of justice. Wrongfully deported once, now threatened with removal to Uganda before his trial—this is not due process. It’s a cruel tactic that devastates his family and undermines the rule of law.”

Later that day, he welcomed students and staff back to school: “Welcome back, Prince George’s County and Montgomery County students and educators! Today marked the first day of the 2025–26 school year — a new chapter that began with discovery, curiosity, and endless possibility. To every teacher, student, and staff member: we hope this” (August 26, 2025).

On August 27, 2025, Rep. Ivey responded to news from Minnesota: “Today’s tragic shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis took the lives of two children and injured many more. My heart is with the families grieving an unimaginable loss and the community reeling from this violence. We can’t accept these tragedies as routine. We”.

Glenn Ivey has served as a U.S. Congressman since 2023 after succeeding Anthony Brown in representing Maryland’s 4th district; he previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently residing in Cheverly at age 62, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
