Rep. Glenn Ivey, U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 4th district since 2023, recently posted a series of tweets addressing immigration policy and honoring prominent political figures.
On March 30, 2026, Ivey highlighted his participation in a shadow hearing on immigration led by Rep. Pramila Jayapal. In his tweet, he stated: “During @RepJayapal’s shadow hearing on immigration, I pressed for answers about what happens to children in Trump’s immigration system after they endure trauma in detention. Getting kids out isn’t enough. Too many are left to carry that trauma alone, without the mental health” (March 30, 2026).
The following day, Ivey shared his experience attending a breakfast event with Governor Wes Moore in Annapolis to honor Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He wrote: “Great to join Governor Wes Moore for a breakfast in Annapolis honoring Speaker Nancy Pelosi. From her roots in Baltimore to her leadership as Speaker, Nancy Pelosi has helped shape major legislation and advance priorities that impact families across the country.” (March 31, 2026). In a subsequent post on the same day, he added: “During Women’s History Month, we also recognize her role in breaking barriers as the first woman to serve as Speaker of the House. Her work continues to reflect the values that define Maryland and move our country forward.” (March 31, 2026).
Ivey’s recent comments reflect his ongoing focus on both national policy issues and local representation. Before joining Congress in 2023—succeeding Anthony Brown—Ivey served in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently residing in Cheverly at age 62, Ivey is an alumnus of Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
