Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted local pride, federal worker protections, and economic challenges facing Maryland families in a series of posts on September 2, 2025.
In his first post at 17:38 UTC, Ivey celebrated community spirit and resilience: “Prince George’s County is on the rise—and @fox5dc’s #ZipTrip captured the spirit that makes our community unstoppable. From our small businesses to our frontline heroes, #MD04 is filled with pride, resilience, and heart. Grateful to see our county in the spotlight where it https://t.co/90KXz2EIp7”.
Later that day at 18:41 UTC, he criticized an executive order by former President Trump regarding federal workers’ rights: “President Trump’s order to gut collective bargaining rights for even more federal workers is a dangerous assault on our democracy—and it lands hardest here in Maryland. From patent examiners to hydropower specialists, federal employees keep our government running. I won’t stand”.
Addressing economic pressures at 21:17 UTC, Ivey posted about cost-of-living concerns and his legislative priorities: ” Maryland families are being crushed by rising costs. No one should have to choose between food, medicine, or rent. I’m fighting to protect SNAP, expand food access, and lower the cost of living—because dignity shouldn’t come with a price tag. https://t.co/EvqcW0pRI6″.
Ivey has represented Maryland’s 4th District since replacing Anthony Brown in 2023; prior to his congressional service he was a member of the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently residing in Cheverly at age 62, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
