Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed economic and labor issues in a series of posts on social media.

On August 29, 2025, Ivey commented on rising prices for consumer goods, attributing the increases to policies enacted by former President Donald Trump. He stated: “Brace yourself—everyday essentials are getting more expensive. Because of Trump’s reckless tariffs and failed economic policies, companies like Hormel, Smucker’s, and Ace Hardware are raising prices on basics like meat, coffee, and nuts. Even a simple peanut butter and”.

During the Labor Day weekend, Ivey participated in local community events. On August 31, he shared: “I spent the #LaborDayWeekend at the Greenbelt Labor Day Festival, where I connected with constituents and sparked meaningful conversations with our community leaders and organizations like @NASA, BARC, @MomsDemand Action, and @CityofGreenbelt Economic Development team.”

On September 1—Labor Day—Ivey reiterated his support for unions and working people: “This #LaborDay, I’m proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with working people and the unions that power our communities. Over the years, I’ve joined labor at rallies to defend federal workers, celebrated apprenticeship graduates, visited training facilities, and hosted”.

Ivey has served as a member of Congress since 2023 after succeeding Anthony Brown. Prior to his tenure in Congress representing Maryland’s 4th District—a region he has represented since 2023—Ivey also served in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently residing in Cheverly at age 62, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
