Rep. Glenn Ivey, U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 4th district since 2023, recently posted a series of tweets addressing economic and local policy issues as well as announcing a job opportunity in his office.

On August 7, 2025, Ivey commented on the impact of tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump, stating: “Tariffs are taxes. When Trump imposes a tariff, it means you will pay more. So how does this impact you? Daily Costs – Everyday goods like food and clothes are more expensive Low‑Income Households – These families feel the burden the most Coping Tactics – Companies”.

Later that same day, Ivey criticized an administration proposal to close a major research facility in Maryland: “The Trump Administration’s plan to close the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) is a grave mistake. BARC has been at the forefront of agricultural research for over a century, safeguarding public health and supporting farmers nationwide. Shutting it down”.

On August 8, 2025, he announced an employment opportunity for veterans or Gold Star Family members in his Landover district office: “My office is seeking a veteran or Gold Star Family member for a two-year paid position in our Landover district office. To qualify, veterans must meet all the following requirements: Veterans must be Honorably discharged, released from active duty within the last six years, pay”.

Ivey succeeded Anthony Brown in Congress after serving previously in the Maryland House of Representatives and has resided in Cheverly since his election. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently aged 62, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD). He continues to represent constituents of Maryland’s 4th District with ongoing attention to both national policy debates and local opportunities.
