Rep. Glenn Ivey, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 4th district since 2023, posted several statements on his social media account on September 16, 2025, addressing voter registration, presidential legal actions, and government funding.

In recognition of National Voter Registration Day, Ivey urged constituents to participate in the democratic process. On September 16 at 14:56 UTC, he wrote: “Today is #NationalVoterRegistrationDay! Our democracy works best when every single voice is heard. If you haven’t registered yet, now’s the time.

Later that day at 18:42 UTC, Ivey commented on former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit against The New York Times and referenced legislative efforts aimed at curbing presidential financial gain from lawsuits while in office. He stated: “Trump is suing The New York Times for $15 billion over reporting on his finances. In June, @Rep_Magaziner and I introduced the Don’t Settle for Bribes Act to stop presidents from cashing in on lawsuits while in office.

No president should exploit the legal system for personal”

At 19:50 UTC the same day, Ivey addressed recent partisan disagreements over federal funding legislation and its impact on American families’ economic well-being. He wrote: “The Republicans refused to work with us on a bipartisan funding bill that would keep the government open and protect healthcare. American families are feeling the economic pinch.

We need solutions to address our problems not more of the same nonsense.”

Glenn Ivey has served as a U.S. Representative since replacing Anthony Brown in 2023 and previously held office in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently residing in Cheverly, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
