Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th Congressional District in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted both new opportunities for veterans and Gold Star Families and ongoing concerns about food insecurity in his district through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).

On August 5, 2025, Ivey announced a new position in his district office: “I am proud to announce an opportunity through the Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program in my Landover district office—part of Maryland’s 4th Congressional District. This two-year, paid position is dedicated to serving veterans and Gold Star Families, working directly on”.

Later that day, Ivey addressed the growing issue of grocery affordability across the United States, referencing recent polling data: ” Grocery stress is real — half of Americans say affording food is their top daily anxiety. (1/5)
The AP‑NORC poll (July 10–14, 2025) delivers the full picture:
• 50% say groceries are a major stressor
• Even high-income households aren’t immune
• 3 in 10 use pay‑later”
.

He further detailed local impacts within Prince George’s County: “In Prince George’s County (e.g., Seat Pleasant), the disappearance of supermarkets has turned neighborhoods into food deserts, forcing residents to rely on corner stores or walk miles to access food. (2/5)”.

Ivey has represented Maryland’s 4th District since replacing Anthony Brown in Congress in 2023. He previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives and resides in Cheverly. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961, Ivey graduated from Princeton University with a BA and later earned a JD from Harvard Law School.
