Rep. Glenn Ivey, U.S. Congressman representing Maryland’s 4th district, addressed recent events in his community and commented on national security concerns through a series of posts on March 25, 2026.

On the safety of Fort Washington Park, Ivey stated: “We’re grateful to our federal and local partners for their swift response to protect our community and ensure the park is safe for everyone. The investigation is ongoing, and we will continue to monitor the situation closely as we await more details.” (March 25, 2026). He also provided an update on the reopening of the park following a security incident: “Fort Washington Park has reopened today after law enforcement safely recovered multiple suspected pipe bombs that were discovered on Sunday and completed thorough sweeps of the area.” (March 25, 2026).

Turning to foreign policy, Ivey criticized former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding Iran: “Donald Trump is escalating his unauthorized war with Iran by deploying the 82nd Airborne. That means more American troops in harm’s way, more taxpayer dollars wasted, and no accountability to Congress. We cannot allow this to spiral into another forever war.” (March 25, 2026).

Glenn Ivey has represented Maryland’s 4th District in Congress since replacing Anthony Brown in 2023. Prior to his current role, he served in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently residing in Cheverly at age 62, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
