Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to criticize recent Republican actions on union protections and government transparency, as well as to advocate for community-based crime prevention.
On September 3, 2025, Ivey posted: “Just days after Labor Day, Republicans are pushing to rubber‑stamp Trump’s plan to scrap union protections—all in the name of ‘national security.’ It’s nothing but a hoax and an attack on working people.
I stand with @RepMarkPocan’s amendment to save federal workers’ right to https://t.co/bZfJVxnz6X”.
Later that day, he commented on House Appropriations Committee proceedings: “On the Appropriations Committee, House Republicans voted three separate times to block @AppropsDems’ efforts to release the Epstein files. Three times they sided with secrecy over transparency. Three times they chose to protect predators instead of delivering justice for”.
On September 4, 2025, Ivey addressed approaches to public safety: “Crime won’t be solved by policing communities with soldiers. We need prevention, intervention, and real opportunities for at-risk youth. Accountability matters—but so does hope. https://t.co/YezZQ77izg”.
Glenn Ivey began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Anthony Brown and previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and currently residing in Cheverly, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
