Rep. Glenn Ivey, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 4th district since 2023, has shared his views on recent legislative activities through a series of tweets. Ivey succeeded Anthony Brown and has previously served in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School.

On July 3, 2025, Rep. Glenn Ivey commented on a legislative strategy involving Speaker Johnson and President Trump by stating that they “clearly do not have the votes on their Big Ugly Bill.” He suggested that their tactic was to “stall to keep the vote open in order to tire out the @HouseGOP members who have found some backbone.” “Speaker Johnson and President Trump clearly do not have the votes on their Big Ugly Bill.”

Later that day, Rep. Ivey expressed gratitude towards Rep. Jeffries for opposing what he referred to as Trump’s “Big Ugly Bill.” He criticized House Republicans for potentially removing life-saving coverage from constituents while affirming that “@HouseDemocrats will keep up the fight to protect healthcare for all Americans.” “Thank you @RepJeffries for standing up against Trump’s Big Ugly Bill.”

In another tweet on July 3, 2025, Rep. Ivey criticized legislation passed by House Republicans which he claimed would worsen conditions for many Americans while benefiting the wealthy with tax cuts. He stated this would make “millions of Americans more poor, hungry, & unhealthy,” providing a link to his full statement online.“Today, @HouseGOP passed legislation that’ll make millions of Americans more poor…”

Glenn Ivey is currently serving in Congress after replacing Anthony Brown in Maryland’s 4th District in 2023.
