Ivey, who succeeded Anthony Brown in 2023, criticized the administration’s policies and highlighted their potential negative impacts on specific communities and the economy.

In a tweet dated April 2, 2025, Rep. Ivey stated, “Trump’s firing of thousands of HHS employees is already having a direct impact on America’s most vulnerable communities- seniors and the disabled. VP Musk & the House GOP are dismantling critical programs like Meals on Wheels and lying to the public by labeling their efforts as”

On April 3, 2025, Ivey commented on impending economic strategies, posting that “Trump’s economic depression-triggering tariffs will go into effect on April 9. Ahead of the actual implementation, stock markets are plummeting in the US and worldwide as goods are anticipated to skyrocket in price. The economy promised by the Trump campaign is obsolete, but it’s”

Also on April 3, 2025, Ivey reflected on his participation in a protest regarding agency layoffs and criticized another official’s behavior, tweeting: “Last month, I joined my colleagues at a rally outside of NOAA to protest the Trump administration’s unlawful agency layoffs.
