U.S. Congressman Glenn Ivey, representing Maryland’s 4th District, recently shared a series of tweets addressing various political and economic concerns. Congressman Ivey, who succeeded Anthony Brown in 2023 and has a background in both the U.S. Congress and the Maryland House of Representatives, expressed his thoughts on topics including innovation, trade policies, and the federal workforce.

On April 7, 2025, Ivey commented on his participation in a discussion with Bloomberg, highlighting the progress of IonQ Inc., located in Prince George’s County. He stated, “On Friday, I joined Bloomberg to discuss the great work that @IonQ_Inc is doing in Prince George’s County. President Trump should focus on creating an economy that promotes and supports innovation – not launching a trade war while cutting funding for research at universities.”

Later that day, he criticized the weekend activities of President Trump and the impact of his trade policies. Ivey wrote, “While Trump was golfing all weekend, his tariffs continued to wreak havoc on small businesses, consumers, and retirement accounts across the country. The American people do not deserve to have their financial future threatened for Trump’s failing economic agenda.”

In another post, Ivey addressed the topic of veterans in the federal workforce, expressing concern over job cuts. He posted, “Veterans in the federal workforce are not bloated bureaucrats – they are committed to helping other veterans and serving their country. By cutting these jobs without warning or cause, Trump is pushing thousands of veterans into financial and professional uncertainty.”
