Rep. Glenn Ivey, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 4th district, posted several updates on September 5, 2025, addressing topics from military academy nominations to public safety and STEM education.

Later that afternoon, he highlighted his work as part of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science and referenced a conversation with science communicator Bill Nye: “As a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, and Science, I know how critical it is to keep pushing the frontiers of exploration, innovation, and STEM education.

In an evening statement regarding crime reduction efforts in America, Rep. Ivey wrote: “Spending $1 million a day for short-term crime reduction is a band-aid, not a solution. The American people deserve real safety that lasts. Rep. Glenn Ivey has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Anthony Brown as representative for Maryland’s 4th district. Before his congressional tenure he was a member of the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961 and now residing in Cheverly at age 62, Ivey holds degrees from Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD).
