Rep. Glenn Ivey, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 4th district, shared updates on recent legislative activities and upcoming events through a series of tweets. Ivey, who replaced Anthony Brown in 2023, has been actively engaging with his constituents on matters of civil service and national defense.
On December 11, Rep. Glenn Ivey announced an upcoming town hall meeting scheduled for December 12 at 7:30 pm. He stated, “On Thursday, December 12 at 7:30 pm, I’ll be conducting a live, interactive town hall meeting over the telephone to discuss the concerns about the impact Schedule F may have on your civil service position.” The event is designed to address concerns related to civil service positions.
In another tweet dated December 12, Rep. Ivey expressed satisfaction with the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in the House. He highlighted its benefits by stating, “I am pleased to have helped pass the NDAA in the House. Among its many provisions, it will provide a pay raise for our troops, critical funding for research at HBCUs, and provide land for a community center in Riverdale Park in my district.”
However, he also voiced disappointment regarding political maneuvers associated with the NDAA’s passage. On December 12 he tweeted,”Passage of the NDAA is an important annual responsibility of Congress, which is why I am incredibly disappointed that Speaker Johnson decided to play politics at the last minute and insert partisan language aimed merely to divide us.”
