On June 4, Rep. Ivey announced that applications for his Youth Advisory Board are now open to high school and middle school students in Maryland’s 4th District. He emphasized the significance of this opportunity by stating “High school and middle school students in Maryland’s 4th District, the applications for my Youth Advisory Board are now LIVE! Don’t miss your opportunity to be a part of an amazing opportunity with my office. Applications close on August 1st.” The deadline for applications is set for August 1st.
Later that day, Ivey criticized a Republican legislative proposal known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill.” He expressed strong opposition by labeling it a “$4.5 trillion disaster,” quoting Elon Musk’s criticism of the bill as a “disgusting abomination.” In his tweet, he stated “The GOP’s ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ is a $4.5 trillion disaster… It jacks up the debt ceiling by $4 trillion while gutting the programs Maryland families depend on. Reckless. Cruel. Irresponsible.”
In another post on June 4, Rep. Ivey shared his efforts alongside Senators Chris Van Hollen and Amy Klobuchar to challenge a decision made by the Trump Administration regarding TPS protections for Afghans fleeing Taliban violence. He mentioned “I joined Senator @ChrisVanHollen and Senator @amyklobuchar in leading a letter with over 100 of our Democratic colleagues in pushing back against this dangerous decision by the Trump Administration to terminate TPS protections for Afghans fleeing Taliban violence.”
Glenn Ivey has served in Congress since replacing Anthony Brown in 2023 and previously held office in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts, he resides in Cheverly and holds degrees from Princeton University and Harvard Law School.
