Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to highlight community engagement and concerns over health care and federal worker protections.

On October 7, 2025, Ivey posted about his participation in a local job fair: “I joined hundreds of constituents at @CityOfPraiseFM Job Fair and Resource Day in Landover, MD. From employer connections to financial literacy classes to helping people file cases or access support as furloughed workers, attendees had access to valuable community resources all”.

The following day, October 8, 2025, he addressed health care issues facing residents of his district: “Across Maryland’s Fourth District, thousands are bracing for skyrocketing premiums and devastating coverage losses because of the Republican health care crisis. During my visit to a @DaVita Dialysis center, I heard firsthand how these cuts would hit patients who rely on”.

Later that same day, Ivey commented on the treatment of federal workers during government shutdowns: “Federal workers keep our country running. Trump signed the law guaranteeing them backpay during shutdowns — now he’s threatening to break it. That’s not negotiating, it’s yet another act of cruelty against federal workers.”

Ivey has served as a member of the U.S. Congress since 2023 after replacing Anthony Brown. Before joining Congress, he served in the Maryland House of Representatives. Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961, Ivey is 62 years old and currently resides in Cheverly. He graduated from Princeton University with a BA in 1983 and earned a JD from Harvard Law School in 1986.
