Rep. Glenn Ivey, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 4th district, shared several reflections and experiences on social media this December. His posts ranged from commemorating historical events to honoring influential figures and engaging with cultural institutions.

On December 7, Rep. Ivey marked the anniversary of a significant historical event by stating, “Today marks the 83rd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Let us honor and remember the 2,403 servicemembers and civilians tragically lost during this attack on our country. We will never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.”

Two days later, on December 9, he expressed his appreciation for artistic endeavors by visiting a local art center: “Last week, I was honored to experience the creative art exhibitions at The @DriskellCenter. The center is an incubator dedicated to creating dialogue that reexamines history and shapes shared futures through the paint brush of Black artists.”

On December 10, Rep. Ivey paid tribute to a prominent cultural figure: “We’ve lost another legend..#NikkiGiovanni was an acclaimed activist and poet of the people that inspired generations to rise above oppression. Her bold words spoke truth to power and leaves behind a legacy of artistry and activism.”
