Rep. Glenn Ivey, who represents Maryland’s 4th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of issues on his social media account, including opposition to a House funding bill, encouragement for student applications to military service academies, and recognition of trades workers.
On September 19, 2025, Ivey posted his stance on the Republican-backed funding bill: “I am a NO on House Republicans’ partisan funding bill. Their plan would rip away life-saving health coverage from millions of Americans, gut critical investments, and greenlight the administration’s wanton firing of federal workers. I will not stand by while Republicans play”. The statement highlights his disagreement with the proposed legislation and its potential impacts.
Later that day, Ivey used his platform to promote opportunities for students interested in serving the country. On September 19, he wrote: “Are you a student or know of one that has a strong academic record, leadership skills, and a desire to serve our country? Consider submitting your application for the Service Academy. Deadline: September 30 Apply Now: https://t.co/KS7mIw75qY https://t.co/35wkCRShHV”.
In another post recognizing National Tradesmen Day on September 19, Ivey expressed gratitude toward trades workers: “On #NationalTradesmenDay, I’m taking a moment to recognize the incredible trades workers who build and maintain our communities. You are the backbone of our country. Thank you for everything you do! https://t.co/YFocud7vJ7”.
Glenn Ivey has represented Maryland’s 4th District in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Anthony Brown. Before joining Congress, he served in the Maryland House of Representatives and holds degrees from Princeton University (BA) and Harvard Law School (JD). Born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1961, Ivey currently resides in Cheverly.
