The Rural Maryland Council announced on Apr. 28 that it has opened the application process for its Fiscal Year 2027 grant cycle, making more than $6 million available to support rural communities.

The funding aims to help economic development and long-term sustainability in rural areas across the state. The grants are intended to support local initiatives such as workforce development, agriculture, and community infrastructure.

This year’s grant cycle includes two main programs: the Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund and the Maryland Agricultural Education and Rural Development Assistance Fund. Interested applicants must submit a Letter of Intent by May 15 at 11:59 PM.

To assist with the application process, RMC will host in-person information sessions covering program requirements. Sessions are scheduled for April 29 from noon to 2 p.m. at Garrett County Community Action Committee in Western Maryland, and on May 1 from noon to 2 p.m. at Harford County Agricultural Center in Northeastern Maryland.

These efforts are part of RMC’s ongoing work to strengthen rural economies through targeted investment opportunities.
