Six nurses from Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital have been selected as recipients of Baltimore magazine’s 2026 Excellence in Nursing Awards, according to an April 17 announcement. The awards recognize outstanding nursing professionals across the region and will be featured in the May issue of the magazine. The honorees will also be celebrated at an event on May 7.

The awards are based on nominations from peers, supervisors, and patients, with a panel of senior nurse advisors reviewing all submissions to determine the winners. This recognition highlights the dedication and skill demonstrated by these nurses within their hospital and community.

Wendy Lincoln, Chief Nursing Officer at Ascension Saint Agnes, said, “These award-winning nurses embody Ascension Saint Agnes’ values of service, care and integrity, demonstrating expertise, dedication and a commitment to patient-centered care. Their accomplishments reflect the exceptional talent and professionalism of our nursing team and set the standard for excellence across the hospital.”

The six recognized nurses are Casey Davis (Clinical Unit Coordinator—Pediatric Emergency Department), Aleda Walters (Oncology Nurse Educator—Ascension Saint Agnes Cancer Institute), Tongela Russoe (Manager, Infection Control), Jennifer Whitcomb (RN Lead, Intensive Care Unit), Stephanie Williams (Nurse Navigator—Ascension Saint Agnes Breast Center), and Joshua Kim (Emergency Department). Each shared personal reflections on their work: Davis said it is an honor to serve families during challenging times; Walters described her oncology career as rewarding despite its challenges; Russoe noted that nursing is personal because it allows meaningful connections; Whitcomb emphasized making a difference in patients’ lives; Williams spoke about guiding patients through difficult diagnoses.

The hospital invited the community to join in recognizing these achievements. The acknowledgment by Baltimore magazine serves as both recognition for individual contributions and affirmation of standards upheld by nursing professionals at Ascension Saint Agnes.
