Freshman Skinner was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Week on April 20, following the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s three-game sweep against NC Central. This marks Skinner’s second weekly honor from the conference this season.
The recognition highlights Skinner’s recent performance, where she recorded five hits, four runs scored, a triple, a home run, and two stolen bases during the series. Head Coach said, “Skylar is a true freshman impact player both offensively and defensively, who is having a great campaign this year and putting the conference on notice for what is to come for the future of the Hawks program.”
Other members of Maryland Eastern Shore were also acknowledged for their efforts in the same series. Richards pitched a complete game while Calvin contributed with a home run, two doubles, and four runs batted in.
According to MEAC weekly honors announced Monday, Howard senior Maryn Jordan was selected as Player of the Week after hitting .750 with six runs scored and helping her team secure its second consecutive regular season championship. Norfolk State’s Maddy Morris earned Pitcher of the Week by posting two wins with a 1.17 earned run average over 12 innings.
The Hawks are scheduled to play at Lincoln (Pa.) on Wednesday before closing out their regular season at home against Delaware State on April 25-26.
