St. Mary’s County Sheriff investigates series of vehicle break-ins in Great Mills area

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 7 that deputies are investigating more than two dozen reports of vehicle break-ins and thefts in neighborhoods near Chancellors Run Road in Great Mills.

The incidents, which reportedly took place overnight, involve suspects targeting unlocked vehicles and stealing cash and personal items. Surveillance footage shows four individuals dressed in dark clothing and masks moving from car to car and pulling door handles.

Deputies said the pattern suggests a focus on unsecured vehicles. The Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to lock their cars, remove valuables, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
