Steny Hoyer, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Maryland’s 5th district since 1981, used his social media platform this week to comment on current political and international issues. Tune in now as @AppropsDems fight back:”

Later that day, he referenced actions by former President Donald Trump, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Russell Vought regarding government spending reductions: “None of the cuts that Trump, RFK Jr., & Vought have orchestrated over the last nine months have been scientifically or morally justifiable. I am committed to working against Republicans’ ‘You’re On Your Own’ agenda and protecting the scientists, educators, & the Americans we”

On September 10, Hoyer shared remarks from an event celebrating Danish Flag Day: “Great to join this celebration for Danish Flag Day and honor those who fought to protect our countries’ shared values of democracy & freedom. I am very proud of my Danish heritage and even more proud to continue working together to strengthen the bond between the U.S. & Denmark.”

Hoyer has represented Maryland’s 5th District since succeeding Gladys Spellman in 1981. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in both chambers of Maryland’s state legislature from 1967 to 1975. Born in New York City in 1939 and currently residing in Mechanicsville at age 83, Hoyer holds degrees from the University of Maryland and Georgetown University Law Center.
